Rhinopower Ltd carries out contract electronics work, the company is a one man band. I am James Holland,
an electronics engineer with over 12 years of continuous design experience, primarily in the military and commercial fields.
About me
I was apprenticed at a defence company in the early 1980s and worked for a number of years
as an Electronics Technician, responsible for building prototype PCBs and equipment.
I completed an HND in Engineering before graduating with an honours degree from Reading University in 1998. Since then I have worked
continuously as an electronics designer producing circuit board designs and software for many projects. I have experience of the full project lifecycle
from requirements analysis through to commissioning. The following is a list of some of my skills:
Analogue and Digital circuit design
FPGA design using schematic capture and VHDL
C++, C and assembly language programming for PC and embedded applications
Micro-controller based design
Fault finding to component level
Preparation of design and test documentation for Hardware and Software
Design proving and requirements verification
Web site design with HTML, CSS and Javascript
Experience in leading a small team of engineers
Confined Space Entry with breathing apparatus

Some projects that I have undertaken:
Stabilised platform control electronics for surveillance and gunfire control
USB and serial dataloggers
Wash/Wipe controllers for military tracked vehicles
16-bit microcontroller based engine management system
Uninterruptable Power Supply
Video switch with graphic overlay
Control electronics for radar systems
EMC design verification
Independant assessment of electronic designs
PC based software for test.
Signal conditioning circuitry for vibration and proximity sensors
